Kickoff of the Yarn Arms Around Port project - a grassroots project designed to bring the community together to create public art, while also raising awareness about the importance of caring for trees and the environment, caring for one another, and inclusivity. The project is being organized by Allison White in partnership with Residents Forward, which is providing fiscal oversight, technical support, and environmental programming. Our goal is to create colorful crochet pieces that will decorate up to 50 trees in Port Washington, primarily on Main Street. As the name of the project implies, the creations will utilize granny squares to form "arms" which will be attached to crocheted "hands" made in various skin tones.
